Donor Information

80% of children repeat the environment in which they live. More than 90% of our chapter's children are on free or reduced lunch programs. Most come from single or teenage parents, witness criminal and violent acts in their neighborhood and have family histories of homelessness, neglect and incarceration.

Friends of the Children-Boston is working to increase achievement in children that are exposed to high-risk environments to help children become productive adults. The three critical factors behind our success are:

  1. Early Intervention – an emphasis on early intervention, as young as ages 6 and 7.
  2. Paid, Professional Mentors – professional, not volunteer, mentors who have experience working with high-risk children.
  3. Long Term Commitment – we work with program children for 12 years; from the time they are selected through high school.

Join the effort to help Friends of the Children-Boston fundamentally change the lives of some of the city's most at-risk children.

  • Friend Sponsor ($50,000) – Give the gift of a Friend and a caring, consistent, long-term mentoring relationship to eight at-risk children for one year.
  • Joint Friend Sponsor ($25,000) – Join with another donor to give the gift of a Friend for one year.
  • Child Sponsor ($10,000) – Make a profound and lasting difference in one child's life by sponsoring him or her in our program for one year.
  • Special Activities Sponsor ($2,500) – Provide special experiences to children who do not normally have the opportunity to participate in activities outside of their neighborhood.
  • Locker Partner ($1,000) – Lease a "locker" for one year to support Friends of the Children's work and establish a supportive relationship with a child to provide school supplies, basic necessities, special opportunities and seasonal gifts.
  • Monthly Activity Sponsor ($500) – Provide outings to the places all children love to visit and explore in the Boston area, but many never get the chance to visit.

All levels of giving are welcome!
